School
Council
A
new innovation at Nelson Park School is the school council. This
group of selected Year Six pupils are given leadership opportunities
including choosing and presenting school assembly content, playground
management and other tasks as designated by the principal. While
this is a relatively new scheme the possibilities are boundless
and the chance to lead will help our senior pupils in their transition
to intermediate school.
Assemblies
The
school has a whole school assembly every second Friday at 11:50am
in the school hall. This is a "coming together" of the
whole school body and is used to honour those pupils who have
excelled over the past fortnight and to showcase the talents of
individuals and groups within the school. Parents are most welcome
to join us at these events.
Each
syndicate also has a weekly "get-together" on a less
formal basis to sing, perform to each other, acknowledge endeavour
and to plan upcoming group activities.
Smarteez
Smarteez
is an independent childcare service that provides before and after
school supervision and care for children at the school for a minimal
rate.

Library
Our
bright, attractive three-level library is another feature of our
school. Every class visits the library once a week and books may
be issued to pupils and taken home at the discretion of the teacher.
Parents/Caregivers should share books with their children. Parents
are welcome to use our library with their children. As time goes
by our library will be developing more varied information gathering
services.
